Doesn't Proportional Representation “rig the system” in favour of smaller parties?

Answer

No - proportional representation 'rigs the system' in favour of the voters, not political parties.

Matter who you vote for, Proportional Representation benefits every citizen by delivering fair results: it’s fair and square — the party with the most votes gets the most seats! This does not always happen in our current system.

We know that the current system rigs the system in favour of the parties that have always governed. It makes it difficult for political change to happen. Both the Liberals and the PCs have benefitted from disproportionate rewards and suffered disproportionate defeats in the past, as the system ‘flip-flops’ from one side to the other, about every 10 years or so.
