Question 1 - Past Record

For new candidates: Did you support and participate in the movement to Honour The Vote in 2016? Why?

Yes, when government asks for the expressed will of the people the answer should be listened to. Eligible voters who chose not to vote could have had many reasons for not voting but they made that choice.

Question 2 - Principles

Do you support Proportional Representation on principle? Why?

Yes. I believe in the will of the majority of voters should be required before our laws are created or modified, if the threshold is less than that the minority of voters can essentially rule over the majority. I also think the idea of not having to strategically vote again. To always vote for what I want, knowing it will help create representation, would be nice.

Question 3 - The Particular model

Do you support the specific Proportional Representation model that is proposed for PEI? Why?

Yes. I think the 9 Island wide MLA's is a great idea, it would give so many avenues for representation to a voter. It could be for many reasons that any particular voter would want to go to a particular MLA from party stripe, to expertise, or any other factor that might make one MLA more approachable or useful than another.

Question 4 - Legitimacy of the Process

Do you believe the 2019 Referendum is a more legitimate, equally legitimate, or less legitimate process than 2016's plebiscite? Why?

It is equally legitimate. I do however wonder how many might not be informed but feel pressure to vote. The plebiscite results were created by informed voters.

Questions 5 - Commitment to future action

If you are a supporter of Proportional Representation:  Regardless of the Referendum result, if a majority of MLAs were in-principle supporters of Proportional Representation, would you introduce and/or support such legislation to improve the island's electoral system?

I would not go against the referendum results without a plebiscite, preferably very inexpensive plebiscite, indicating we should do otherwise.

Question 1 - Past Record

For new candidates: Did you support and participate in the movement to Honour The Vote in 2016? Why?

I voted against it. Thinking back, I was lead to believe it was not in my best interest to vote yes and I didn't take the time to research the matter on my own.

Question 2 - Principles

Do you support Proportional Representation on principle? Why?

Yes. I fully support proportional representation on the grounds that it will not only bring fairness to our Island government but it will hinder potential corruption from a monopoly government.

Question 3 - The Particular model

Do you support the specific Proportional Representation model that is proposed for PEI? Why?

Yes, I support MMP for PEI!

Question 4 - Legitimacy of the Process

Do you believe the 2019 Referendum is a more legitimate, equally legitimate, or less legitimate process than 2016's plebiscite? Why?

I believe the 2019 Referendum is a more legitimate process than in 2016's plebiscite because it is presented in clearer terms that show the many benefits MMP has to offer.

Questions 5 - Commitment to future action

If you are a supporter of Proportional Representation:  Regardless of the Referendum result, if a majority of MLAs were in-principle supporters of Proportional Representation, would you introduce and/or support such legislation to improve the island's electoral system?

Yes
